WELCOME
For over 25 years, artist and part-time Nantucket resident Margaret W. “Margie” Beacham has been faithfully and skillfully capturing the endless beauty and tranquility of her “magical island retreat.”
An impressionist painter in tone and subject matter, Margie builds delicate washes of color to create her award-winning images. Her unique “wet-in-wet” watercolor technique was credited in Phoebe Flory’s Approaches to Painting People Book Two.
“I try not to duplicate scenes verbatim or even to redefine, but simply to reflect on the emotions they have revealed: The thrill of being covered in salty ocean spray as you race around Great Point in a sailboat. The buzz of bees and rustle of leaves in a garden as the sun kisses the well-worn bicycle parked outside your window. The comfort of tradition on a gray December day as you walk past the Christmas Tree Boat on Main Street. Together, these images weave a quilt of special memories that linger,” she explains.
Margie has studied watercolor painting with many prominent artists both in the United States and abroad. She completed her formal training at the University of Virginia, the Maryland Institute College of Art, the Phoebe Flory Portraiture School and the University of Maryland, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in applied design. She is a lifetime member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society where she served on the Board, the Artist Association of Nantucket and The Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers Society of Washington D.C
When not living on Nantucket, she resides in Baltimore with her husband and two dogs, Winston and Lily. Her award-winning watercolor works hang in private and corporate collections around the world.
